Help for Local Merchants with Credit Card Payment Processing
One of our fundraising projects is to help merchants get the best rates for processing credit card payments. We are an agent for Fidelity Payment Services, and we receive a small percentage of their profits. Fidelity charges its customers far less than other such services, working on the basis of a small margin of profit. If you are a merchant or if you know of one who is currently suffering from excessively high rates we can help reduce those rates to a mere 1.45% for most types of credit cards. Contact us for help.
If you wish to help us to recruit merchants, here are some talking points:
1. There are no contracts or cancellation fees, only an application to establish creditworthiness.
2. Fidelity would absorb any cancellation fees that you might have with your current provider. Any switch from the old processor to Fidelity is seamless, and can be accomplished overnight.
3. Unlike most processing companies, which charge as much as the market can bear, Fidelity uses a model which works on narrow margins of profit. Their profit (in Canada) is a fraction of a percent of the transactions, with none of the usual extra fees that processors like to throw in to irritate us. The only thing that might appear as extras are charges imposed by Government compliance (security) regulations, and a tiny monthly statement fee. If you have any concerns, they are easy to deal with or to negotiate.
4. Fidelity also has software solutions that are compatible with anything to which your current credit card processing is integrated, including on-line purchases and inventory and payroll control, if needed, as well as international transactions.
5. Terminals can be purchased or rented, with costs lower than what you are currently paying.
6. Batch transfers to your bank account are processed daily.
7. Fidelity’s Canadian office is in Montreal. Service (by local technicians) is fantastic. The regional sales manager is not pushy and, in fact, he will explain anything you want to know about that industry, with patience. We offer to make a mutual e-mail introduction, so that you can feel in control rather than be uncomfortable with calls out of the blue. It is likely that the first suggestion will be to send him a copy of one of your own statements (with all sensitive information blocked out); and he will tell you exactly where and how much you are being overcharged for each line item. Even if you don’t switch, that exercise alone is worth gold, and there is no obligation.
